El Paso Hospital has received $2.6M from U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)

Posted January 19, 2018 05:12:11The U.N. Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has awarded $2 million to El Paso Memorial Medical Center in Texas to help pay for the construction of equipment to treat patients at the hospital, according to an update issued on Wednesday.

The funding will be used to build a new suite of equipment for the operating room and diagnostic imaging area, and to build new facilities for the nursing staff, the El Paso Herald reported.

The hospital has a backlog of more than 1,400 cases.

In 2015, the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) announced a $1.5 million infusion of state funds for the facility, which is located on a former federal prison complex.
