A woman who was injured while driving her own car to work dies in hospital

A woman has died in hospital after she was injured whilst driving her car to a job.

The woman, from Dromore, Co Tyrone, was taken to the Mater Hospital in Monaghan after being involved in a collision with a tractor-trailer.

She was taken there by ambulance and pronounced dead on arrival.

Her partner, who was also taken to hospital, is in a stable condition.

A spokesperson for the Ambulance Service said: “At 7.45pm on Saturday, December 3, 2017, a vehicle collided with a stationary vehicle and a passenger was injured.

The female driver of the vehicle sustained a head injury and subsequently passed away.

The driver of a vehicle involved was not injured.

No further information is available at this time.”

In a statement, the Ambularia Health Service said it was unable to comment on the incident because of the privacy and confidentiality of the individual.

It added that it was “deeply saddened” by the news.

It said: The Ambularias family is asking for privacy during this difficult time.

The Ambulatory service is working closely with the coroner and all relevant authorities to assist them with their inquiries.
